Healthy Recipes

Here are a list of websites or recipes I find helpful for me.

You can figure out your calorie intake here.

Eatingwell.com  has a great week meal plan for $3.00 or less per serving. I love this since food is so expensive anymore. It is also hard to find good healthy meals when you are on a tight budget!

Fish:

I LOVE fish so when I find a good fish recipe I have a hard time expanding. Why is fish good for you?
1. It is a good source of protein (great snack for after working out).
2. It is a good source of vitamin B-12.
3. Most fish has a good amount of iron in it. This is great for those who are anemic (like me).

When you think of fish most think of just having fish plain, but there are so many ways to cook it!
My personal favorite is a family recipe that my Papa taught me when I was young.

Ingredients:
Salmon, Fresh Lemon cut into 4 pieces and juice squeezed onto fish, Fresh green onions,  Fresh Mushrooms, and a little bit of water.
Place all of this in a piece of tin foil. Fold it over and put it on the grill to barbecue. It is so good! The lemon brings out so much flavor, The onion and mushrooms add a little extra flavor, and the Water helps steam the fish.

Here  is another favorite recipe.

Love Grilled Tilapia!

Chicken:

My chicken:
I love to barbecue so many of my recipes are barbecued.

Ingredients: Chicken and raspberries. Mash the berries so you have a nice juicy clumpy mixture, then pour it on the chicken and let it sit for several hours in a fridge. Then barbecue it. Have a small salad on the side and there is an AMAZING dinner!

I Love the food network! I love how they try to help turn old recipes into healthier recipes. This one is a little high in sodium, but it is so good! I don't use the white wine vinegar, but that is up to you.

(Side note: I don't actually add salt into ANY of my dishes. I know many people think it takes taste away, but there is enough salt in everything that to me I don't need to add it, My husband thinks different, thus the high blood pressure!)

I love a good stir fry! This one is one of the better ones I have used. If you have a better healthier stir fry, PLEASE share it! I would love to try a new one with maybe fewer calories. I also like to add peppers, and make the stir fry have all sorts of color!

I LOVE good fried chicken, but most recipes are so fattening. I found this one at cookinglight.com. I promise it tastes so good and has way less calories and fat than other recipes!

Beef:

If you like beef stew, try some of these. My favorite is this one. It isn't quite as healthy, but it is really good.

If you want to try a good meatloaf recipe here is one! It is good. You can either use a lean ground beef or ground turkey. Either way it is good!
